Upakar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited successfully conducted a two-day AML/CFT and Corporate Governance Training aimed at strengthening compliance, risk management, and good governance practices within the institution on Bhadra 21 and 22. The training was facilitated by Mr. Bhuwan Basnet, a leading financial compliance expert, and was attended by members of the Board of Directors, senior executives, and compliance officers.
The program covered key areas of Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT), including global and national regulatory frameworks, the role of FATF, APG and FIU-Nepal, and recent legal provisions under the Assets (Money) Laundering Prevention Act, 2064, including its Second Amendment, 2083, and related Prevention Rules.
Participants also received practical guidance on KYC, KYM, KYE, Customer Risk Profiling (CRP), transaction monitoring, Threshold Transaction Reports (TTR), and Suspicious Transaction Reports (STR).The training further highlighted the roles and legal responsibilities of the Board of Directors, senior management, and compliance officers in ensuring effective corporate governance and regulatory compliance.
The two-day program concluded with a strong emphasis on strengthening institutional controls, mitigating financial crime risks, and building a sustainable culture of compliance and good governance at Upakar Laghubitta.
